iGetter includes a Site Explorer that allows exploration of entire web or FTP sites, so you can easily find and download files you're interested in.iGetter supports searching of file mirrors for additional acceleration of downloads. This feature allows the latest and most popular files of the downloads library to appear directly in iGetter. iGetter integrates with the web service.iGetter supports HTTP and FTP protocols as well as HTTPS and FTP over SSL implicitly and explicitly. This basic feature of iGetter can greatly improve the speed of your downloads. iGetter supports Segmented (Accelerated) downloading.iGetter resumes broken downloads, checking date and size.In addition it allows auto resume on broken downloads, queue filtering by various criteria, site explorer, history list, scheduling downloads for low traffic periods, auto redial on broken connection, auto hang*up and shut down on completion, and much more. I highly recommend getting a box, it is a decision you won't regret.IGetter can greatly improve the speed of your downloads using segmented (accelerated) downloading. Most seedboxes are going to run rtorrent with rutorrent which is pretty similar (and in a lot of way superior) to µtorrent. µtorrent serves absolutely zero purpose, unless your seedbox provider uses it for their servers.
To create a torrent, you will need to upload the files to your seedbox server, so yes, it is seedbox specific.ģ. I run Lion, but there is a compatible version for Mountain Lion.Ģ. I had been using igetter (which is an html/ftp downloaded), but it doesn't let you download entire folders at a time like filezilla does. Lardo suggested to me that I get filezilla, and damn was that the best suggestion ever. Just a few questions I had before I make the plunge.
I'm currently using utorrent, if i make a switch to the seed box, what purpose does a torrent client make? If i want to create a new torrent and seed my own files, is it seed box specific? Is this true on a mac? Everything seems to be Linux or windows based I've read a lot of tutorials that say using FTP/Filezilla is the best way to download from the server. I don't download all that much but I would like to keep my IP out of the swarm so it seems to be the best option but I have a few questions So I'm very interested in getting a seedbox from hatbox.ca given their options and relatively low prices.
They would either install deluge, rtorrent or transmission, since those are the clients that work on a linux system. Since you're just starting out, I suggest getting a managed seedbox so the seller sets it up for you with all the applications/clients installed. Depending on whether you get a managed or unmanaged box, you may or may not have root access to install a torrent client to set up your seedbox.
You won't be using your computer's torrent client on your seedbox. More experienced users can correct me on this if I'm wrong. I don't have the experience of uploading new torrents, but if I'm not mistaken you need to upload your files to your seedbox using FTP and then create a torrent using the torrent client in your seedbox to seed from there.
You can even SSH into your seedbox using Terminal since a mac is already *nix based. I use Filezilla but any other FTP client would work too. You need to use an FTP client to connect to the seedbox to access the files you torrented, and download them to your computer. As far as I know it doesn't really matter what OS you're using if you have a seedbox since you're not running it on your computer.
